Meeting not held in December.
- A tree and two posts were installed at the Brookwood access area to close off an area that allowed vehicles to access the asphalt trail. Deer hunters were using this area to haul out their kills ..
- Demonstration planting beds were installed around the information and map sign areas at the end of the year. Native plants, grasses, and plants to attract butterflies, and native ferns in deeply wooded areas were used. Deer resistant plants were also used but deer, when under stress will eat just about any plant. We also had the memorial garden replanted with native plants and remulched.
- The new display cabinet has arrived and will be installed soon. This is a 2' x 3' cabinet that will be used for meeting dates, notices, and current photos.
- I will reinstall the old display cabinet on the back side of the kiosk for additional photos and information.
- We did not get any new information signs done before the end of the year.
- The new rule signs and new kiosk signs are done but I have not picked them up. They will need to be installed.
- We also got a set of magnetic truck sign to let folks know that the vehicles in the preserve are on preserve business.
- I also had the sign company make up some red arrows that will be added to the map signs which will stand out better than the green "you are here" arrows.
- We did have spare information signs made and some additional map signs. A map sign in the back areas of the PONP would be good to install since we still have a few folks getting lost.
- Extra bird boxes were order and I have not picked them up. We need to set up a date for cleaning and install of new boxes on a warm winter day. Helpers needed on this project.
- We did have a split rail fence installed from the new section of the bike trail and down to the stream and across on the other side to better direct the walking traffic. The county was going to install a zig zag section of fence to control bike access. This will need to happen soon since folks have found the new section of the bike trail ...
- We have a few bike racks to install in the preserve. We may need to install one at the new bike trail access.
- Bridge to install ?? 2008 budget may allow for this project.
- We also have (1) additional pet waste to install.
- We also have (2) additional park benches to install. The POCA contractor said it was too wet to install the benches which is very strange ...
- We had some additional mulch installed on some of our trail areas in the preserve. The cost was very reasonable and it should help in some of the very wet areas.
- The web site has been revised and I should be able to show folks the revised site at this meeting.
